It’s time to get out and enjoy these beautiful Spring days with the family. Kids love outdoor play and it’s a great place to try out some “messy play” activities like play dough, bubbles and more. Less clean up for Mom and Dad all while getting fresh air. This tried and true recipe for Kool-Aid play dough from Kraft is a family favorite. It’s easy to make and many of the flavors smell great. Consider adding glitter for some sparkle. Most of the glitter will stay in the play-doh. We said most - not all! Use glitter at your own risk.
Here's what you'll need:
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup salt
- 1 envelope (0.13 oz. to 0.23 oz.) KOOL-AID Unsweetened Drink Mix, any flavor
- 2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1 cup water
- 1 Tbsp. oil
Make it:
- MIX first 4 ingredients in medium saucepan until blended. Stir in water and oil.
- COOK on medium heat 5 min. or until mixture forms ball, stirring frequently.
- TRANSFER to plate; cool slightly.
- After play-doh has cooled you are ready to play. Use trays or an outdoor picnic table and let the creative play begin. Use tools from the kitchen like cookie cutters, spatulas, child-safe scissors etc to add to the fun. No fancy play-doh tools necessary
* Please note this is not intended to be edible & some colors may transfer or stain.
Bubbles are another favorite outdoor activity. Even big kids can get in on the fun by trying out more in depth bubble recipes or trying to make giant bubbles. Create a bubble station using a jug like container that has a spout. You might have one at home already that you rarely use- time to put it to work. A bubble station will let kids fill up when they need to and is a more cost effective way than buying store made solution each time.
