Back to Basics: How to Make Cornbread

Making homemade cornbread is so easy! Join Whitney as she shows us How to Make Cornbread that will beat your box mix.

In just three easy steps you can have fresh-out-of-the-oven cornbread. Bake them as mini loaves or as muffins!

Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • Optional add-ins: ½ cup shredded cheese, corn, green chiles, jalapenos, cooked bacon, or tomatoes

        Directions:

        1. Preheat oven to 400°.
        2. In a medium bowl, sift together flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
        3. Add in vegetable oil, milk, and egg and mix well.
        4. Muffins: Spoon into 6 lined muffin tins and bake for 15-20 minutes.
        5. Mini Loaves: Spray two 5x3” loaf pans, fill each evenly with batter, and bake for 20 minutes.
