Smoothies are an easy go-to summer meal. They can cool you off and also fill you up! They don’t have to have a lot of complicated ingredients that you may not be familiar with. Use our “Summer Smoothie Essentials” guide to help you create a fresh and healthy for you yummy summer treat!

Summer Smoothie Essential ingredients

Simple Smoothie

Simple Green Smoothie

3 cups ripe or frozen fruit

2 cups liquid base


3 cups ripe or frozen fruit

Fresh/Frozen fruit (see tips for freezing suggestions)

  • Bananas

  • Berries

  • Peaches

  • Mango

  • Apples

  • Pears

  • Pineapples 

Leafy Greens

  • Spinach

  • Kale

  • Bok Choy

  • Collards

  • Herbs

Liquid Base

  • Water

  • Coconut water

  • Milk

  • Coconut milk

  • Almond milk

  • Soy milk

Boost It! Experiment with something new. Don't be afraid to mix in a new ingredient from time to time. You might just find a new favorite. 

  • Chia seeds

  • Avocado

  • Flax seed

  • Coconut oil

  • Protein powders

  • Greek yogurt

  • Cacao powder

  • Cinnamon

Tips

  • Good blender- (notice we don't say “expensive,” a good blender doesn’t have to cost a fortune.

  • If you’re just starting with green smoothies, we suggest using spinach. It blends the easiest without adding too much flavor.

  • When creating the ultimate green smoothie, the order of ingredients matter! Blend your greens and liquid base first, THEN add your fruit.

  • If you’re using fresh fruit, you may want to add some ice cubes to your smoothie to make it cold and refreshing.

  • Use seasonal fruit

  • Serve in a frozen glass

  • Use some fun straws

For an extra cold treat, cut and freeze bananas in advance to give your smoothie a creamy, milkshake-like texture.

What you need:
1 cup blue diamond almond breeze unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 cup packed chopped kale
1/2 cup diced pineapple
1/2 cup pineapple juice
1 medium banana

What to do:
Place all ingredients in blender and puree until smooth.
